HISTORY
Koestlin is a factory with an almost one hundred year old tradition of manufacturing superior desserts. It was founded back in 1905 and since then has passed down the path of a small manufacturing biscuit workshop into a large industrial manufacturer of biscuits and wafers recognised and acknowledged in may countries around the world.
The factory's founder was Dragutin Wolf and the factory carried his name until 1932.

The period between 1919 and 1927 was key for the company's development. Production of biscuits and wafers began, while the factory itself became significantly mechanised. It employed fifty or so workers and manufactured about 500 kg of products daily.
It is in this period that the affiliation with the company Koestlin from Gyor, Hungary, came about. New machinery and licences for production of biscuits and wafers were purchased. From this time on the factory Wolf has been known as Koestlin.

After WWII the volume of production increased. In 1960 the factory moved to a new location in the industrial zone of the town. In 1979 new large workshops were built, and in 1989 a compartmentalised warehouse with room for 3300 pallets. Production increased to 15.000 tonnes annually.

From 31.12.1992 Koestlin has been a joint stock company, and production has noted increases and falls due to loss of part of the market and the ongoing Homeland war.

In March 2002 the company Mepas from Široki Brijeg, Bosnia and Herzegovina, became the majority owner. With the introduction of fresh capital and new ideas, Koestlin expanded its market, employed new people, and sales and production have exceeded 35 tonnes daily. Koestlin's products have entered the western market where they are recognised as products of exceptional quality and tradition.

Koestlin is a successful company with a 100 year tradition which, with its business results, aims to retain one of the two leading position in the Croatian market in the confectionary industry and retain its leading position in the production of flour-confectionary products. This means the production of recognisable, but also new high-quality products which, with their quality and price, will satisfy the needs of consumers, realise profit and secure the needs of its employees. In neighbouring countries in which were are well placed we will make all efforts to retain this level while winning over new markets and investing particular efforts in the significant Russian market.
The comparative advantage of Koestlin on the export market is the fact that it has an export number awarded in 2004.
With the introduction of the HACCP system, analysis of dangers according to control points, preventative control of food production is conducted with the aim of its health safety and to meet the everyday needs of our customers for healthy food.
Having been awarded certification according to the IFS (International Food Standard) standard, we have fulfilled conditions for entering the EU market.
With the implementation of all introduced required standards, we fulfil the requirement of the European manner of operating and in doing so we have realised our main objective which is to be ready for Croatia's accession into the European Union.

In recent years four new technological production lines have been installed: for sandwiches (of the Austrian manufacturer Hercona-Haas), two for salted sticks and pretzels of the well known brand Werner & Pfleider, and extruded products - flips of the renowned world brand Schaf. Aside from these, 8 automatic production lines for packaging products of the horizontal and vertical type flow – pack packers have been installed, with which we have packaging of products in line with trends of the most well known world brands.

QUALITY POLICY
The quality policy represents the basis for operations and advancement of Koestlin. The high level of the quality system is based on successful business operations and development, and a guarantee of the satisfaction of our customers, owners, business partners, employees and wider social community, which is our main strategy and orientation.

With the implementation and maintenance of the Quality control system which is based on the HRN EN ISO 9001:2000 standard, Koestlin has defined a level under which no processes may be realised. Quality is guaranteed with the system described in the Quality manual. We regularly evaluate the fulfilment of needs and expectation of our customers, consumers and clients. We analyse responses with the aim of increasing the trust and satisfaction of the same, and the continual improvement of our products and production processes.

The awareness of the importance of abiding by ISO standards – quality control system must be present in every employee because the system is built and advanced on the quality work and responsibility of each individual. In this way we reaffirm the originality and recognisability of the product, and the existing trust consumers have in the high quality of our products. In this way we will retain one of the first two positions in the production and sale of flour-confectionary products in Croatia, and in a quality manner appear on existing markets abroad and win over an increasing number of new ones.

Continual professional training and a friendly working atmosphere along with team work is not only a duty but also an obligation of all employees, as in this way we can maintain and improve the quality of products and business processes, and develop new products and processes for the global market.

The safety of each employee and equipment, and above all the safety of the entire community must be a constant concern of the management but also of each employee, and along with respecting ecological standards and environmental protection should give us work satisfaction and the respect of our clients. The HACCP system of analysis of danger per control points has been introduced for all our products. By applying the HACCP system a preventative control of the production of all our products is conducted with the aim of their health safety, whereby we comply with the everyday needs of our customers for healthy food.

The implementation of the IFS (International Food Standard) system is based on requirements dealing with the food industry and its market. With systematic succession we have proved the capability of monitoring and finding products (raw materials and packaging) in all procedures of production, processing and distribution to customers. We keep a constant vigil over the health safety of our products in accordance with legislation of the Republic of Croatia and all countries we do business with.

Quality policy is the fundamental part of the Quality manual, and it is also incorporated into other Koestlin documents. The implementation and advancement of the provisions in the Quality manual and other documents are the constant responsibility of all employees, while the established policies and their implementation is the only acceptable way of working in Koestlin, which will ensure that we are the best at what we do and confirm that Koestlin is a successful company with a 100 year old tradition and quality. The acquired knowledge and expertise intermingled with team work and the ambition of being the best are the main vehicle for improving the efficiency of the quality control system.
